Milestone
A Decade of GTIIT,
a Century of the Technion
The year 2025 marks a dual milestone—the centenary of the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and the 10th anniversary of the founding of Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT). Through a century of enduring legacy, the Technion has maintained its excellence in science and engineering education, nurturing four Nobel laureates and numerous leaders in technology and innovation. Over the past decade, the young GTIIT has taken root and flourished in China, delivering outstanding achievements through its steadfast commitment to high-quality education.

At the centennial celebration of the Technion, GTIIT stood out as a key strategic partner, with its achievements in talent cultivation receiving repeated recognition from the senior leadership of the Technion. On the occasion of GTIIT’s 10th anniversary, alumni from around the world traveled across distances to return to their alma mater, while current students jointly launched a new campus photography exhibition. Filled with heartfelt wishes and gratitude, they continue to uphold and carry forward the enduring bonds and sense of responsibility shared by the GTIIT community.

Breakthrough
Record High Number of Top Scientists!
A total of 21 professors currently serving at GTIIT have been named to the 2025 World’s Top 2% Scientists list, setting a new record for the highest number of inclusions to date. Several professors have now been featured on the list for four consecutive years, underscoring the sustained academic influence and research excellence of the university’s faculty.

By the end of 2025, the university had published nearly 1,700 papers in international journals, with approximately 80% indexed by SCIE/EI and nearly 15% appearing in top-tier academic journals with an impact factor greater than 10. GTIIT continues to lead pioneering research in cutting-edge fields such as ultrafast optics, new materials, and intelligent surface design. The university has secured over 260 research projects in total, including 31 grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and has undertaken major initiatives such as Guangdong Basic and Applied Basic Research Key Programs and the Guangdong Quantum Science Strategic Special Project.

Commencement For Graduates 2025
Amidst the grand symphony movement,GTIIT's 2025 graduation ceremony was held with great fanfare, as a new class of graduates welcomed their crowning moment.

According to preliminary statistics, the undergraduate Class of 2025 has received a total of 377 admission offers from 99 universities and institutions worldwide. These offers include programs from prestigious universities such as Stanford University, Yale University, National University of Singapore, University of Washington, Cornell University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Melbourne, and University of Hong Kong, with research-based programs accounting for 60% of the total. Among all students pursuing further studies, over 40% have been admitted to universities ranked within the global top 10, nearly 80% to those in the top 30, and approximately 95% to the top 100. Additionally, the cohort has so far received 8 direct admission offers to doctoral programs.
Quality
Admissions Successfully Concluded,
Student Scale Surpasses 2,000!

In 2025, GTIIT enrollment achieved steady progress in both scale and quality, despite a more than 20% year-on-year increase in the admission plan. The university admitted 678 outstanding undergraduate students from 16 provinces (or municipalities) across China, driving the total on-campus student population to exceed 2,000 for the first time. Within Guangdong Province, the highest admission score reached 659 (ranking 2,189th in the province), setting a new historical record. Outside the province, the average admission score surpassed the special control line of each respective province (or municipality) by 56 points. The proportion of high-scoring candidates (with scores above 600) rose to 30%, and nearly 70% of admitted students achieved an English score of 120 or higher.

In the same year, the university made significant strides in its academic development by successfully obtaining approval as one of the Project Construction Units for Granting Master's Degree. This marks a crucial step toward building a high-level talent cultivation system encompassing undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs.
New
SC Map "Lit Up" More,
with Upgrades of Campus Life
In 2025, the integration of GTIIT’s North and South Campuses deepened, and campus development was comprehensively upgraded. Thirteen teaching laboratories were successfully completed on the South Campus, the photovoltaic corridor illuminated the green campus, the student hub opened, and the "GTIIT Stone" made its dazzling debut. Additionally, the "Four Seasons Garden" generously donated by a corporate partner was unveiled with warmth. Together, these elements are unfolding a vibrant academic landscape that harmonizes technology and humanity, innovation and heritage.

Accelerate
Patent Applications Surpassed 100,
Industry Cooperation "Beared Fruit"
In a year of relentless progress, GTIIT has seen a continuous stream of scientific and technological achievements, with Industry-University-Research collaboration consistently "bearing fruit." In the field of intellectual property, 27 patent applications (including 3 PCT international patents) were filed, pushing the total cumulative number of patent applications beyond the milestone of 100. Additionally, five technology-based startups have been incubated, securing millions in funding.

Throughout the year, GTEC engaged with over a hundred enterprises and organizations, reaching 22 technical cooperation agreements and three strategic partnerships. Notable achievements include Professor Kong from the Department of Chemical Engineering undertaking an anode flatness simulation project for a Fortune 500 company, collaborating with industry to overcome critical technological challenges. Meanwhile, Professor Xiao from Environmental Science and Engineering Research Group spearheaded the “Sludge Harmless Treatment and Resource Utilization at Mayu Community Wastewater Treatment Plant” project, contributing to building a greener and more sustainable Shantou and supporting Guangdong's "Hundred, Thousand, and Ten Thousand Project." Furthermore, the university launched a flagship collaborative initiative: a 20-million-yuan "NICE-GTIIT Proof-of-Concept Fund" jointly established with National Innovation Center par Excellence (one of China’s four major national innovation centers). This fund will select promising projects for proof-of-concept support, facilitating the high-quality transformation of scientific and technological achievements.
