Recently, Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) held its first campus Color Me Run on the South Campus. The whole campus was filled with color and joy.

Jointly organized by GTIIT, Shantou Municipal Bureau of Justice, Shantou Intellectual Property Protection Center and Sun Yat-sen Library of Guangdong Province, with GTIIT Student Association as the main host, the event innovatively combined color run with intellectual property (IP) education. Over 300 participants, including students, faculty, and guests, joined it.

Warm-Up: Get ready for fun
A long line formed at check-in desk from the start. Participants collected their activity materials and exclusive personality stickers one by one. These unique “Introvert/Extrovert Stickers” showed respect for everyone: you can enjoy the run in quiet peace, or lose yourself in the colorful joy.

The free activity zone was full of joy. Clouds of colorful powder were thrown into the air, creating brilliant misty spectacles. Some creatively painted on others’ white T-shirts. Attendees from different grades, majors and backgrounds quickly broke the ice through these playful exchanges.

Following was street dance and singing performances from clubs. The dynamic beats and clear voices pushed the atmosphere to its first peak. Led by staff, participants gathered for warm-up exercises before the campus run began.

Run Now: Clouds of Color, Frames of Youth
With the starting gun, participants set off together. A rainbow parade lit up the campus.

This run was not about speed or competition—it was a unique experience. Participants ran in groups or alone, passed through various creative color stations, and sometimes received surprise powder “ambushes”. Laughter and cheers exploded everywhere.

The color party at the finish line took the joy to next level. With music, all participants gathered before the main stage. Following the countdown, everyone raised their remaining powder and threw it skyward together. Those clouds of color turned into the sweetest youth memory of spring 2026.

IP Integration: Learn Through Run
To mark the 26th World IP Day, the event was carefully designed as an immersive “Sports + Challenge + Legal Education” experience, allowing participants to learn IP knowledge through running.

Four themed checkpoints were set up along the course, focusing on IP-related knowledge, patent design and layout, trademark authenticity identification, geographical indication protection, copyright awareness, etc. These were complemented by special exhibitions, legal education booths, and consultation service stations. The event abandoned dry theory, making education lively and truly bringing IP consultation services to the campus. The “Taste of China” food booth at the finish line further integrated geographical indication education into 17 specialty dishes, allowing participants to deepen their understanding and awareness of IP protection while tasting delicious food.

Besides, a special lecture related to University Technology Transfer was held that evening. Guest speaker Attorney Chen Zechun used case studies to explain the law, providing detailed explanations and in-depth analysis on patent drafting, risk avoidance, and other topics of greatest concern to students and faculty, further broadening their IP horizons.

The first Color Me Run allowed GTIIT students and faculty to gain friendship and happiness through running, and to learn knowledge through interaction. It enriched GTIIT campus life while planting small seeds of IP awareness into everyone.
