On August 2, 

GTIIT welcomed the new 

students of 2026 Cohort.

The campus was buzzing with 

new faces, smiles, and hellos—

young people from 

across the country, 

gathering to start their new life.

GTIIT First Look 

Pure Chaoshan Vibe

The colorful photo wall 

was packed with 

eager new students, 

striking poses with their families to 

freeze their very first memory at GTIIT.

Identity checks, info inquiries, 

and supply collection—

all done in one smooth stop, 

with staff on hand to guide the way. 

The signature marked something new— Congratulations! You're officially 

part of the GTIIT family!

"Hey, dorm this way!"

"Let me grab that for you!" 

Student volunteers were everywhere,

giving newcomers the warmest welcome.

Cozy dorm rooms were ready. 

Busy parents helped make the beds, 

while new roommates 

exchanged smiles across the room. 

A simple "hello" was all it took to 

connect everybody.

In the hallway, 

a lion dance drew cheers 

with its sharp, powerful moves.

In the cafeteria, 

a Qiaopi letter station invited 

students to write their first words home—

inspired by the film Dear You.

Nearby, the Qiaopi cultural wall 

shone with the legacy of ancestors

 who crossed oceans with 

deep devotion to their country.

The cultural tour ended with 

a taste of Chaoshan—

food like steaming seafood porridge 

and savory braised goose was served.

A bite of local heritage came with

the city's warm hospitality.

On orientation day, 

GTIIT Pro-Vice Chancellor Gao Jian 

and GTIIT academic and management teams

met with parents for an open discussion.

 It was a candid exchange 

that built consensus and 

a shared commitment — 

to help every student soar.

Hear from the Newcomers

Following in my brother's footsteps 

My brother graduated from GTIIT and went to Yale — so I've seen what's possible here. That's a big reason I wanted to follow in his footsteps. Plus, with such a small student body, the teaching is super personalized — they really tailor things to each student. That was a huge draw for me. (Dai Kunwei, freshman from Guangdong)

Newcomer in the new program

The check-in process was super organized, the guidance was clear, and it all felt really warm. I think environmental engineering is a field with a lot of future — it's closely tied to carbon neutrality and all the national environmental policies. I'm really looking forward to starting my studies in this major. (Hu Xinlei, freshman from Guangdong)

To be a Nobel laureate's alumni

Technion has produced several Nobel laureates — and honestly, that's what drew me here. I want to pursue research in the future, and I really love the academic freedom here. Plus, my family is right here in Shantou, so I can learn to live independently while still being able to head home whenever I want — it's super convenient.

A full-packed plan

As Chancellor Mao said at the opening ceremony, here's my plan: in Year 1, I'll figure out a study style that fits me and matches GTIIT's innovative approach. Year 2, I'll buckle down and aim for strong grades. Year 3, I'll sharpen my professional skills and build a solid foundation. Year 4, I'll go all out for my dream grad school. Anyway, I'll stay curious and keep pushing myself, making the most of what GTIIT has to offer. (Luo Yangu, freshman from Beijing)

Learn real skills for our country

What drew me to GTIIT is that it's a place where we can develop our own thinking and judgment, build hands-on skills, and truly learn to spot and solve problems. My big dream is to go to Europe or the U.S. for grad school, pick up cutting-edge tech, and then bring it all back home to make a difference. (Deng Xiwen, freshman from Hunan)

Admitted to dream major

This is my first time at GTIIT, and I'm already loving it — the campus is way bigger and more advanced than I ever imagined! I got into my dream major, Mechanical Engineering and Robotics, and I'm hoping to learn a ton, make great friends, and really broaden my horizons here. (Jiang Zhuohang, freshman from Jiangsu)
