GTIIT achieved a breakthrough of NSFC

The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) announced  the 2018 funded project today. This year is the first time GTIIT applied for the National Natural Science Fund. The project led by Prof. Ka Yin Leung has been successfully funded, representing a breakthrough for GTIIT.


The funded project is "Identification and characterization of novel type III secretion system (T3SS) effectors implicatedin the intracellular life style of Edwardsiella anguillarum ET080813". Investigators of the project include Prof. Ka Yin Leung, Prof. Sima Yaron, and Dr.Yigal Achmon.

GTIIT has fully introduced excellent higher education resources from Technion. Prof. Aaron Ciechanover, a distinguished research professor from Technion and 2004 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry,served as the Vice Chancellor of GTIIT. More than 60% of the faculty members are sent directly from Technion and the rest are recruited globally.  Over 90% of the current faculty members are from foreign countries including Israel, Autralia, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, India, Canada, Spain etc.

Recently, GTIIT is actively responding to the call of Guangdong Province to build a top university. Meanwhile, Shantou City intends to invest heavily on building an advanced provincial laboratory for chemical manufacturing by relying on GTIIT. The breakthrough of NSFC marks that GTIIT is entering a new stage of well-grounded research and innovation.
