What does Shantou really look like? GTIIT 2018 cohort visited the downtown of Shantou on August 18 to further explore it.

The Dapu Hall used to be the general headquarters of the Nanchang Uprising Army. "The Nanchang Uprising Army stayed at Shantou from September 24, 1927 to September 30, and this is called 'Qi Ri Hong', which means seven days of revolution in Chaoshan area in history", said the commentator.
After visiting the exhibition, GTIIT freshmen had a better understanding of the Nanchang Uprising Army and the revolutionary struggle process of southward forces.
The North Campus of GTIIT used to be the Qi Ri Hong Park. Looking up the hill next to GTIIT, you can still find the Revolutionary Hero Monument!

Walking into the Opening Culture Exhibition Hall, GTIIT freshmen first noticed the huge wall painting of port opening culture, which introduced the milestones of Shantou in fields of politics, economy and culture during the 150 years of port opening.
The exhibition hall has collected many precious cultural relics donated by the public, such as old photos, overseas remittances, hand phones and so on. GTIIT freshmen stopped by and enjoyed these collections. They were also attracted by the sand table of the aerial view of Shantou Port, which was made according to the map of Shantou in 1931. Lin Qia, coming from Shantou, voluntarily introduced the history of this city to his classmates.
GTIIT 2018 cohort also visited the East Coast. Many of the students who came to the sea for the first time kept taking pictures and expressed their curiosity about the seawall cast by reinforced concrete. The East Coast would be the CBD of Shantou in the coming years, which will definitely promote the comprehensive development of Shantou.
One-day city tour is far from enough if you want to further explore Shantou. Magical language, unique architectures, various folk customs, renowned merchants, exquisite Gongfu tea...... are waiting for you!
