On Nov. 8th, Shen Zhulin, Deputy Director General of the High-tech Industry Department of the National Development and Reform Commission(NDRC)；Xiao Jing, investigator of the NDRC；Huang Zhijun, leader of the evaluation team of the National Public Entrepreneurship Innovation Demonstration Base; and Lai Maohua, Director General of the Industry Development Department of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, accompanied by Zhong Hui'e, Deputy Secretary of the Shantou Municipal Committee, visited GTIIT and Shantou University. Management of GTIIT, Prof. Eliezer Shalev, Mr. Yigal Cohen and Prof. Lin Danming, Vice President of STU Ulanhasi met or attended the meeting with the delegation.
Management from Shantou High-tech Zone, Jinping District, Development and Reform Bureau, Science and Technology Bureau, and Commerce Bureau of Shantou, talked about the development of China-Israel (Shantou) Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone, establishment of provincial laboratory, and cooperation achievements between China and Israel in the field of science and technology.
Prof. Lin Danming, PVC of GTIIT, pointed out the establishment of GTIIT also promotes the Sino-Israel cooperation in Shantou. Governments at all levels pay great attention to GTIIT and it has been regarded as a significant cooperation achievement between China and Israel. The provincial and municipal governments have made great efforts to support the construction of GTIIT, which express their emphasis on the development of high-level, international engineering education, and their expectation for strengthening China-Israel innovation and entrepreneurship cooperation. Currently, the Technion and STU have been setting up pace to promote the development of GTIIT, especially the advanced industrial connections between Israel and Shantou, which have made encouraging achievements in serving the local society in field of environmental protection and human health.
Mr. Shen Zhulin appreciated the efforts of GTIIT and STU in promoting the innovation cooperation between China and Israel. He pointed out that GTIIT and STU should make good use of advantages, learn from each other, and enhance the comprehensive development of Shantou. He believes Shantou has a promising future. "Vice President of China Wang Qishan visited Israel last month. He stressed that China and Israel will further expand the cooperation in the field of economy and trade. Shantou should continue pushing forward reform and opening up, and promote innovation," Shen said. He also encouraged Shantou to lay a solid foundation for Sino-Israel cooperation, improve mechanisms and institutions for the further development, establish all-dimensional communication model, and make more achievements in the future.
