GTIIT Fun Sports Event

PostTime:10/26/2026

At dusk on the South Campus field of Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT), lights and laughter lit up the evening as the freshmen's fun sports event got underway. New students broke the ice and bonded through a series of games.

Nazca Giant Painting

Six white canvases were laid out in the center. Within the frames, every color and stroke came together into delightful scenes; beyond them, the colorful university life has just begun!

Classroom "Sneak-Eat" Contest

Textbooks lay open on the desks, snacks hidden beneath, while the patrolling "teacher" walked between the rows. Students watched for their chance and took a bite the moment the teacher turned away: gummies went down easily, but chips could give themselves away with a crunch. The harder the snack was to sneak, the riskier the move — and the more points you scored.

Floor Curling

On the wide field, simulated curling lanes were neatly set out. Students crouched to aim and pushed gently, eyes locked on the stone's path. Teammates whispered tactics nearby as the stone either settled in the center circle or was knocked out of the scoring zone by a light tap from an opponent.

Castle Siege

Foam swords and spears out, everyone shoved the inflatable castle into the other team's half. At the whistle, some charged with foam swords, others hid behind teammates and pushed when they saw an opening. The thwack of foam, teammates' shouts, and roars of laughter from the sidelines all blended together!

Bell Arena

The Bell Arena tested everyone's hearing. Blindfolded with bells on their ankles and foam bats in hand, players swung at the sound while teammates shouted directions from the sidelines. Some landed a hit, others swung and stumbled — everyone had a blast in this blind battle!

Shield Volleyball

Shield Volleyball also tested teamwork. Players could only bump the ball with shields. Serve, jump, swing—yet the ball often refused to cooperate, sometimes hitting a teammate square in the head. Some swung too hard and sent their shields flying; others misjudged and took the ball right to the face. The joy of mistakes far outweighed the score itself!

The photographer set up a clear acrylic board in front of the camera. Everyone scribbled their names or drew smiley faces on it. The moment the shutter clicked, the writing on the board and the lively expressions in the lens were framed forever.

The Lucky Draw began. Players exchanged the commemorative coins they had earned across the courts for numbers, and cheers erupted each time staff drew a number at random. At this moment, winning no longer mattered; what stayed with everyone was excitement—and the real prize: the new friends they had just made.

As dusk fell, this event drew to a close. The freshmen met here and turned unfamiliar names into teammates. May this enthusiasm and connection stay with them as they move forward together in the years ahead.
