On October 30, Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) held the 2026 Awarding Ceremony of the "Fanghui Scholarship", inspiring students to pursue excellence and forge ahead.

Leaders and guests attending the ceremony included: Prof. Mao Junfa, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chancellor of GTIIT; Mr. Zhang Yunhui, Chairman of Hunan Chamber of Commerce in Shantou; Dr. Queena Yi, President of GTIIT Education Foundation and Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT; Prof. Gao Jian, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT.

The "Fanghui Scholarship" was established in 2022, aiming to support undergraduate education at GTIIT. This year, Mr. Zhang donated an additional one million yuan. 18 undergraduate freshmen received the 2026 "Fanghui Scholarship".

On behalf of the university, Prof. Mao Junfa thanked Mr. Zhang and his wife for their generosity. He noted that the donation is not only material support but also a spiritual legacy—a powerful boost from society for young students pursuing their dreams, and a vivid practice of GTIIT's commitment to nurturing virtue and advancing student support. He also expressed high hopes for the award recipients, encouraging them to take this honor as a new starting point, remain humble and keep striving, and integrate their academic pursuits and life aspirations into the nation's scientific and technological development and the broader course of the times.

Mr. Zhang Yunhui congratulated the award recipients. He said the "Fanghui Scholarship" is meant to honor diligence and academic excellence, and more importantly, to help cultivate capable young talent who can shoulder important responsibilities, guiding them to follow the nation's scientific and technological trends. "With this scholarship, I hope to pay tribute to diligence, excellence, and perseverance—so that every effort is acknowledged and every dream can shine."

Li Zimo, a recipient of the "Fanghui Scholarship" and a student from GTIIT Mechanical Engineering and Robotics Program, said he would remember this kindness, turn society's care into motivation for continuous progress, and in the future, contribute his expertise to industrial advancement and live up to the mission of the times.

During the exchange session, students actively asked the guests about career choices and finding their areas of interest. The guests responded patiently, encouraging students to make the most of their time at GTIIT and build a solid professional foundation. They said GTIIT's programs fit the needs of the times, and students should trust their training to tackle future challenges.
