Invited by Taiwan Businessmen's Dongguan School, Prof. Lin Danming, PVC of GTIIT, attended the annual university fair and presented a talk about GTIIT to over 60 students.

The Taiwan Businessmen's Dongguan School is the first school for Taiwan children in the mainland. It offers a synchronized education system to the students and graduates will receive diplomas that are recognized in both Taiwan and the Mainland China.

In the beginning, PVC Lin mentioned that Shantou and Taiwan have been closely related in the history. Hence Shantou became one of the earliest cities in Mainland China that attracted and gathered business investments from Taiwan.

PVC Lin briefly introduced the establishment and development of GTIIT, and its features and highlights. "GTIIT is the first Sino-foreign University that solely focuses on science and engineering. It is equipped with world-class teaching faculties and research facilities. The school adopts English as instruction language and graduates will be awarded degrees from both GTIIT and Technion."

The Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) is a Sino-foreign cooperative educational institution established by Shantou University (STU) and Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (Technion) with independent legal person status. The university is located in the city of Shantou, Guangdong province.

GTIIT will be modeled on the Technion, a leading university in Israel and throughout the world. The vision of GTIIT is to become a world-class international university campus carrying out cutting-edge research in the fields of science and technology. This research will boost entrepreneurship and technology transfer, and foster a high-tech industrial ecosystem in Shantou and Guangdong Province.

GTIIT has been listed in the Guangdong High Level University Development Program. Four disciplines, including Materials Science and Engineering, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering are listed as key disciplines.

English is GTIIT's language of instruction. GTIIT will be comprised of three colleges: the College of Engineering; the College of Science; and the College of Life Science. The goal is to have about 5,000 students eventually. The institute will eventually grant Technion engineering degrees at all levels - Bachelor, Masters and PhD, and maintain the high academic standards of education, research and innovation for which the Technion's Haifa campus is world-renowned. Graduates will receive a GTIIT graduation certificate, degree certificate and Technion degree certificate.

GTIIT welcomes applications from Taiwan students who completed high schools in Taiwan or in the Mainland China.
