The Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2019 opened in Boao, Hainan on March 28th. Premier Li Keqiang attended the opening plenary and delivered a keynote speech themed "Working Together On Challenges and Achieve Common Development". More than 2,000 delegates from over 60 countries participated. Chancellor Li Jian'ge, also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sun Yefang Foundation, attended the forum and participated in several panel discussions.

During the session of "A Conversation with University Presidents: When East meets West", Chancellor Li, together with Lakshman Dissana, Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo; Eric Labaye, President of école Polytechnique; KIM Yong-hak, President of Yonsei University; David Pilsbury, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Coventry University; Winston Soboyejo, Provost of Worcester Polytechnic Institute; Peter Tufano, Dean of Sa?d Business School of University of Oxford; and Yang Bin, Vice President of Tsinghua University shared experiences and practices on topics including the definition of world-class university, sustainability, online learning and education on engineering.

Chancellor Li pointed out that a world-class university should at least have three important attributes: advanced educational philosophy, top-notch faculty members and first-class facilities. Only with the combination of these factors can we cultivate the elitist. When talking about differences between the east and the west in education, Chancellor Li expressed that students of GTIIT are very excellent and diligent, and are highly praised by foreign faculties. He is even more pleasant to notice that they have gradually adapted to the Israeli way of education. They interact actively in class and dare to express themselves. Regarding the development of the university, Chancellor Li shared that GTIIT will further introduce strong programs of Technion, and establish leading-edge disciplines to cultivate more outstanding talents of science and engineering for the development of China.

From 28th to 29th, Chancellor Li also hosted a financial session themed "The Logic of Tax Cut", and participated in Financial Leaders Roundtable as well as the financial forum jointly held by Tencent, Tsinghua University National Institute of Financial Research and Tsinghua PBCSF.
