Campus life at GTIIT is colorful. The multicultural background gives students the opportunity to experience the unique customs of different countries in the world and to expand their horizons.
Paper-cutting Art
On Mar. 22, Ms. Huang Shaoqiong, the first Master of Arts and Crafts in Shantou gave a lecture on how to cut out the Zodiac pictures on the color paper to GTIIT students.
Participants were very confident at first but when they started cutting they gradually realized that it’s easy to learn paper cutting but difficult to master it with perfection.
“The paper is so small, and I don’t know how to cut it!”
“Oh my god! I cut the connection and damaged the whole image!”
“Why my paper cutting is not that perfect?”
Ms. Huang Shaoqiong and her assistants gave one-on-one guidance to the students. They not only introduced the basic knowledge of paper-cutting to the participants, but also taught them how to cut out different patterns. Finally, everyone finished their own beautiful works. Someone even tailored their favorite images according to their own preferences.
Leo from Israel cut out a snake and a rat. He raised these two small pets at home and always worries that the snake will swallow the rat. “This is my first time to learn paper-cutting and it’s very interesting. I will give my paper-cutting to my mother after back to Israel.“
“Paper-cutting gives us a chance to experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture. It’s really amazing for everyone to concentrate in something,” the participants said.
