The 13^th Asian Science Camp ended sucessfully. As the first ASC held in mainland China, the 13^th ASC invited many world-wide scientists and 251 campers from 28 countries and regions. It is not only a honor, but also the responsibility.

Behind the event, volunteers from Shantou University and Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology could be seen everywhere working hard for the successful holding of the camp.

I think my duty is to ensure participants a good experience during this camp.

At 10:00pm on July 31th, in the GTIIT canteen, teammates were still busy making their poster.  Songs were playing, and when it came to the Bohemian Rhapsody, everybody began to sing without any word.

The song went on for verse after verse and became an amazing harmony. 

"None of the volunteers' work is easy. But everybody is trying to overcome hardships. Whatever difficulties we face, we would help each other."

During the cultural trip, I stood up in the bus and was counting noses. I noticed a volunteer putting her arm behind me to prevent falls. She's so warm!

We tried our best to check all the details. This kind of spirit was embodied on everyone these days.

"Even though I have seen the rehearsal for times, I was still moved by the performance. How amazing these cultures are!"

The evening of August 2 is the time for closing ceremony and cultural night. We started working at 8:30am until 9:30 pm. There were only 20 minutes for lunch. As for dinner, we had to take turns to save time for work. Although we were very tired, the cultural night was successfully held and I was finally relief.

During the performance, there were many unexpected interactions on and off the stage. The atmosphere was very high. Our tiredness of the day changed into excitement and daned together.

"This passion for new knowledge is something I have never seen before."

On the first day of the master's lecture, campers lined up to ask questions; on the second day, they wrote the questions on the paper and volunteers passed them to the scientists. Once there were only 15 minutes were left, however, students kept passing notes. Volunteers had to go and return for times.

I picked up Japanese campers from the airport and guided them to the summer camp. On the way, they asked us to teach Chinese, and kept practicing again and again until they were proficient.

After listening to the lectures of scientists, I feel that the road of scientific research is long. If you want to embark on this road, you must have a strong will, not fear failure, learn to accept and enjoy loneliness.

Science is a truly global undertaking. Professors and participants of different nationalities can integrate and learn from it.

While accompanying with Nam Souteang, the leader of Cambodia, she gave me some suggestion about study and life.

She draws a T-shape on her left hand with her right hand, which means to expand the depth and width of learning and improve yourself. We should not only be a professional in the major, but also  broaden the scope of knowledge.

Journalist's Notes

As a member of the media team, we carried our camera wherever there were people. During the seven days, we witnessed the thoroughness of the coordinating group, the carefulness of the pick-up group, the thoughtfulness of the reporting group and the hard-working of the resident group. We saw the efforts of the camp members, the meticulousness of the consultation group, the ingenuity of the cultural club group and the  circumspection of the opening ceremony group.

We record your happiness by camera and words, and are pleased, too.

Wish you and me will grow up to be better adults.
