Position Description  

The Mechanical Engineering Department of Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology is establishing the teaching labs. We need three lab technicians/managers in three directions, including (1) thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and energy, (2) manufacturing, processing, and solid mechanics, (3) engineering and simulation software. The relative courses in those directions are:

1. Thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and energy

• Aerodynamics (wind tunnel)

• Propulsion and combustion (engine)

• Heat flow (natural and forced convection)

• Hydraulics (Laminar and turbulent flow)

• Renewable energy

2. Manufacturing, processing, and solid mechanics

• Solid mechanics and mechanics of materials

• Dynamics and control

• Manufacturing

• Advanced Manufacturing (3D)

• Welding and Soldering service lab

• Mechanical service lab

3. Engineering and simulation software

• Engineering drawing (CAD and SolidWorks)

• Simulation software for fluid and solid mechanics (COMSOL and others)

• Software for control (LabView)

Position Responsibilities

During the establishment of teaching labs, the main duties are：

• Assist the supervisor to purchase equipment

• Assist the supervisor to recruit relevant staff

• Install, learn, check, and debug the equipment

• Establish the experimental setup and prepare users’ manual

• Communicate/coordinate with the construction department and other relevant dept. of the school

• Other works that are related with the establishment of teaching labs

After the establishment of teaching labs, the main duties are：

• Provide support for the teaching lab including teaching students and assisting teachers when needed

• Conduct lab/course preparation before the lab course

• Maintain and manage lab equipment

• Check the equipment regularly and liaison with manufacturer about equipment repairing and maintenance

• Supervise students while they are doing experiments and answer questions

• Other duties that are related with the teaching labs and teaching activities

Requried Job Specifications

1. Required Educational Background: Undergraduate background in engineering, and with a Master’s or Ph.D. degree

2. Research topics in related area and experience in the relevant equipment or software are necessary

3. Experience in giving lab lectures is preferred

4. Work experience in related area is preferred

Required Job Competencies

1. Language ability: CET-6 or above level with fluent oral English

2. Scrupulous and patient to students

3. Ability to work in a team willingness to support each other

4. Good cooperativeness to supervisors
