Position Description
We are building a brand-new research laboratory at the Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology’s Mechanical Engineering department. We conduct cutting-edge research in fluid power. A full-time Research Assistant is needed to support our research in the area of mobile hydraulics, more specifically on hydraulic excavators. This researcher will work to publish journal and conference articles with international visibility. This position combines numerical simulations, system design, and experimental tests. Thus, advanced skills in understanding and modeling hydraulic systems are essential.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop innovative research under the guidance of a faculty member
Help in writing research papers as the main author and/or as a co-author
Help in developing and running an experimental test-bed and ensure its correct functioning
Identify and purchase equipment and other materials for the experiments
Create and experimentally validate dynamic models of a hydraulic excavator
Propose new ideas to support innovative research
Search and study useful material (papers and books) to support innovative research
Participate in the laboratory activities (internal meetings)
Required Job Specifications
Academic degree: Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a close field (required), or Ph.D. degree in engineering (preferred but not mandatory)
Required experience: at least 2 years of research experience in fluid power (better if with excavators)
Required Job Competencies
Language ability: good spoken English for essential communications and ability to write technical documents in English
Excellent understanding of complex hydraulic systems (better if load-sensing systems)
Excellent skills in modeling hydraulic and multibody systems in MATLAB/Simulink and AMESim
Basic knowledge of CAD programs (better if SolidWorks)
Some experience with experimental tests (preferred but not mandatory)
Basic knowledge of diesel engines and exhaust emissions (preferred but not mandatory)
