Position Description:

We are building a research laboratory at the Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in the Mechanical Engineering department. We conduct cutting-edge research in fluid power and robotics under the supervision of Dr. Padovani Damiano. We are looking for a full-time Senior Engineer to take care of this laboratory and ensure its right functioning to achieve the desired research output. The Senior Engineer will work on different projects mainly related to fluid-driven robots, electro-hydraulic systems, and mobile hydraulics. This is a long-term position that ensures stability and provides all the advantages related to working in academia (mainly excellent work/life balance, flexibility in planning the tasks, and a friendly environment). The salary is negotiable based on the experience and in alignment with similar positions in the country.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Responsibility of the laboratory’s correct functioning

·        Help to organize space in the laboratory and purchase equipment and other material

·        Keep track of the laboratory costs

·        Find and maintain contacts with external suppliers and companies

·        Find and supervise other workshop technicians when needed for special purposes

·        Supervise and support the construction of mechanical structures

·        Supervise and support the installation and maintenance of hydraulic systems

·        Supervise and support installation and maintenance of electric systems (motors, batteries, cabinets, etc.)

·        Supervise and support the installation of sensors and data acquisition systems

Required Job Specifications:

Required qualification / academic degree:

·        At least a bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a close field (required)

Required experience: 

·        At least 5 years of practical experience are required (but 8-10 years are preferred) in one or more of the following areas: control, hydraulic systems, electric systems

Required Job Competencies:     

·        Language ability: Sufficient English skills for basic communications (required)

·        Advanced skills to understand the functioning of hydraulic systems (preferred but not required)

·        Advanced skills to understand the functioning of electric motors (preferred but not required)

·        Low-voltage Electrician certificate (preferred but not required)
