Position Description                                                                     

Guangdong Technion  - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) in Shantou, Guangdong Province, is looking for an experienced Master in Biotechnology or Biology to manage a core facility unit and provide high-end professional services to faculty members in order to support their research.

The senior manager shall establish and run a new core facility unit providing services to researchers. The unit includes a large variety of imaging and analysis instruments including confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, liquid chromatography, light scattering, gel imaging, FTIR, RT-PCR, DSC, a tissue culture lab and a histology unit. In addition, the facility accommodates research supporting equipment including ultra-centrifuge, lyophilizer, autoclave etc.

The main duties include:

1.      Establish training program for all the unit instruments and train new users.

2.      Write operation manuals, methods and protocols of the instruments for the users.

3.      Supervise the work of the users to ensure proper usage and reliable results.

4.      Manage the unit management software (Bookitlab) including control of: user registration, instrument reservations, training records etc.

5.      Assist the users with optimization of instrument use, data collection and data analysis.

6.      Keep the unit operational: maintenance, reagent and disposables inventory, spare part inventory

7.      Implement safety regulations following the EHS regulation.

8.      Take care of routine administrative tasks.

Required Job Specifications                                                               

1.          Master degree in biotechnology, biology, biomedical engineering or other relevant program.

2.           Experience in working with biological technologies, including fluorescence and confocal microscopy, flow cytometry and sorting, genomics, mass spectrometry.

3.          Ability of solving technical problems and self-learning.

4.          Ability of reading scientific papers and adopting research procedures.

1.         Language ability: Fluent English in speaking, reading and writing.

2.         Excellent communication, educational skills and service consciousness.
