Position Description:

Lab Technician for the Chemistry Teaching Labs of GTIIT will be responsible for general laboratory housekeeping, including maintenances of lab equipment and working area, stocking of consumables and chemical inventories, preparation of solutions, cleaning of laboratory glassware and tools, disposal of waste generated during lab work and more. Training will be provided.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·    Responsible for general laboratory housekeeping;

·    Work according to the quality and safety standards of each lab;

·    Cleaning of laboratory glassware, equipment;

·    Operation and maintenance of instruments and equipment;

·    Responsible for the inventorying and stocking of laboratory chemicals and consumables;

·    Preparation of solutions and laboratory equipment before teaching;

·    Handling and disposal of waste generated throughout the laboratory;

·    Completion of other tasks regarding the laboratory, assigned by superiors.

Required Job Specifications:

·    A BSc degree in chemistry/chemical engineering

·    Good communication in English and familiarity with English Chemical terminology

·    Good understanding of laboratory practice and safety

·    Expertise and knowledge of Microsoft Office software (including Excel)

Required Job Competencies:     

·    Language ability: English (Fluent)

·    Knowledge of physical chemistry

·     Knowledge and experience in operating analytical instruments, such as spectrometers, chromatographs, or other analytical devices. This requirement is an advantage, but not a prerequisite.
