High School Teacher (Grades 9–12)
Overview
The High School Teacher (Grades 9–12) at GTAIS is responsible for delivering rigorous, engaging, and internationally benchmarked instruction aligned with the school’s secondary curriculum pathways, including IGCSE (Grades 9–10) and A Level or equivalent senior secondary programs (Grades 11–12).
The role supports students’ academic achievement, conceptual understanding, skill development, and social‑emotional growth, while contributing to a collaborative, innovative, and student‑centered school culture.
Teaching & Learning Responsibilities
· Teach assigned high school subject(s) in Grades 9–12, aligned with approved GTAIS curricula and assessment frameworks.
· Plan and deliver lessons that promote deep conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and application of knowledge.
· Incorporate active, inquiry‑based, and problem‑based learning strategies where students analyse problems, design solutions, and test ideas.
· Use evidence‑based instructional practices and differentiated strategies to meet diverse learner needs, including EAL learners.
· Design, administer, and evaluate formative and summative assessments aligned with course standards and external examination requirements.
· Maintain accurate records of student progress and use data to inform instruction and intervention.
Curriculum & Program Responsibilities
· Implement and contribute to IGCSE and senior secondary curriculum delivery, ensuring academic integrity and appropriate examination preparation.
· Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, vertical alignment, and assessment moderation.
· Participate in curriculum review, development, and adoption processes using GTAIS‑approved frameworks.
· Support interdisciplinary connections where appropriate to enhance student learning.
Student Support & Well‑Being
· Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that supports student well‑being and engagement.
· Use strength‑based and restorative approaches to classroom management and student behaviour.
· Contribute to the school’s social‑emotional learning (SEL) and pastoral care programs, including advisory or mentoring responsibilities assigned.
· Support students’ development of responsibility, resilience, and independence appropriate to senior secondary learning.
Schoolwide & Co‑Curricular Responsibilities
· Actively participate in schoolwide collaboration, meetings, and professional learning communities.
· Contribute to after‑school activities, clubs, senior study hall, or enrichment programs and support school events such as school open days as required.
· Uphold and promote GTAIS values, policies, and expectations in all professional interactions.
· Engage positively with the wider school community, contributing to a culture of professionalism and continuous improvement.
Professional Practice & Family Communication
· Take ownership of ongoing professional growth, including goal‑setting, reflection, and engagement in professional development.
· Use student data and feedback to reflect on and refine teaching practices.
· Communicate proactively and professionally with parents and guardians regarding curriculum, assessment, and student progress, using school‑approved platforms.
· Collaborate constructively with colleagues, demonstrating openness to feedback and a commitment to shared success.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Education or a related subject area.
· Valid teaching certification or license in the relevant subject area (TESOL/ESL certificates alone are not sufficient).
· Minimum of two years of full‑time lead teaching experience at the secondary level.
· Strong proficiency in English (spoken and written).
Preferred Qualifications & Attributes
· Experience teaching IGCSE, A Level, or other internationally recognised secondary programs.
· Experience in cross‑curricular or interdisciplinary teaching.
· Familiarity with EAL best practices in a mainstream classroom.
