Iain Ross McNab, Is a Chemical Physicist with research experience in molecular spectroscopy and surface chemistry (scanning tunneling microscopy). Iain's first degree in chemical physics is from the University of Sussex (UK) and he holds a doctorate from the University of Oxford. Iain spent many years of his life studying the high resolution spectra of of molecular cations and dications and also (separately) alkanes and alkenes absorbed at silicon surfaces. He has taught at the universities of Oxford, Southampton and Newcastle (all in the UK) and Toronto (Canada) and also at Seneca Polytechnic and Sheridan College (whilst the Dean of the faculty of Applied Science and Technology) in Canada. He has just finished re-authoring "Pedottis' Introduction to Optics" with Prof. Rayf Shiell, to be published by Cambridge University Press in 2024. His current research interests are in calculational chemistry and spectroscopy, and also in pedagogy.
