Santiago Laplagne joined the Department of Mathematics at GTIIT as a Visiting Professor in October 2023. Dr. Laplagne received a Ph. D. in Mathematics from Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA), Argentina in 2012. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of Buenos Aires. He has been a visiting researcher at TU Kaiserlautern (Germany), City University of Hong Kong and University of Konstanz (Germany).

His fields of interest include Commutative and Computational Algebra and Real Algebraic Geometry. He works in algorithms for primary decomposition of ideals and normalization of rings, as well as decomposition of polynomials as sum of squares.

He is an enthusiast go (weiqi) player and president of the Argentine Go Association.
