Bin Li

Assistant Professor

Dr. Bin Li joined the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (Robotic Track) of GTIIT in September 2020, as an assistant professor. Before moving to Cornell University to pursue postdoctoral position at Sibley school of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, he has completed two years postdoctoral training at Institut Jean Le Rond d’Alembert, Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris VI). He received his PhD in Applied Mathematics (Computational Mechanics) under the supervision of Prof. Marino Arroyo from LaCàN–Mathematical and Computational Modeling, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-BarcelonaTech in 2016. He works in the broad fields of theoretical and computational solid mechanics.

At GTIIT, his research focuses on mathematical modeling and advanced computational methods to improve the understanding of the mechanics and physics of fracture in solids. He is interested in the fundamental study of damage and fracture of heterogeneous materials, anisotropic materials, and tearing of thin sheet, as well as mechanics of soft materials and mechanics modeling of contractile microtissues. His research have published in top journals of solid and computational mechanics and others, including Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids, International Journal of Solids and Structures, International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Computational Mechanics, Biophysical Journals, Applied Physics Letters, Nature Communications, etc.
