Udi Sarig

Assistant Professor

Dr. Sarig obtained his PhD in Biotechnology and Food engineering from the Technion—Israel Institute of Technology on 2012, and continued his post-doctoral training on cardiovascular tissue engineering in the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. Dr. Sarig was a Senior Research Fellow and group leader in the NTU school of Materials Science and Engineering before joining GTIIT, where he currently holds the position of an Assistant Professor.

Dr. Sarig has over 10 years of experience in the fields of complex solid-organ tissue engineering (TE), bioreactor engineering and stem and progenitor cells, yielding over 20 publications in international recognized peer reviewed journals and scientific conference proceedings, and a PCT patent application. His published work covers areas such as successful decellularization and characterization of thick and complex solid cardiovascular tissues, studies of the reciprocal cross talk between stem and progenitor cells to the extracellular matrix (ECM) in vitro and in vivo, dynamic bioreactor-based cultivation for effective compartmentalized recellularization and vascularization, and ECM bioactivity evaluation in rat and porcine disease models. Dr. Sarig has been an active member of the TE and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS), the Singapore Stem Cell Society (SSCS) and the international society for developmental biologists (ISDB).
